Second Annual Student Workshop of Strategic Holistic Intrusion Defense in Power Systems (SHIELD) Project

The second annual student workshop of the research project “Strategic Holistic Framework for Intrusion Prevention Using Multi-model Data in Power Systems (SHIELD)” (PI: Ismail Muhammad, Associate Professor, Computer Science, Tennessee Tech) funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) was held at the Center for Infrastructure Renewal (CIR) of Texas A&M University System (TEES) on May 13-14, 2024. The workshop was hosted by Kate Davis, Ph.D. (PI, Associate Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering, TAMU; Assistant Director for Education, TEES Smart Grid Center). It was attended by 35 participants and aimed to support students to be more knowledgeable in power systems, networking, cybersecurity, and ML/AI. The instructional team included Ana Goulart, Ph.D. (Professor, Engineering Technology & Industrial Distribution, TAMU), John Romero (Program Director, Outreach & Continuing Education, Texas A&M Cybersecurity Center, TAMU), Justin Leiden (Program Director, O.T. Engineering & Cybersecurity, Texas A&M Cybersecurity Center, TAMU), Erik Keller (Research Engineer, TAMU), Akram Hague (Graduate student, TAMU), Leen Al Homoud (Graduate student, TAMU), Daniel Marr, P.E. (Director. SOCC Operations, LCRA), Ben Sterling (Technologist, Claroty), and Edmond Rogers (Lead Operational Technology Security Engineer, UIUC).
