Payman DehghanianPayman Dehghanian, research assistant and Ph.D. Candidate at ECE, was awarded recently the 2nd Best Poster Award in the IEEE Industry Application Society (IAS) Annual Meeting on Oct. 21, 2015. The conference was held in Addison, Dallas, Texas from Oct. 17-22nd. The Annual Meeting has a long tradition of providing an international forum for experts to present and discuss the latest developments in the application of electrical technology to industry. At the same time, this conference is specifically designed for the practicing engineer interested in this field. It therefore emphasizes professional development, learning from experts, sharing of experiences, and networking with peers. This meeting has a full complement of tutorials, as well as technical presentations about both new research and practical solutions developed in the field.

He was also awarded the Best Poster and Presentation Award and received a $1000 prize at the IEEE Metrocon 2015 conference held on Oct. 22, 2015. The conference was held in Fort Worth, Dallas, Texas. MetroCon is an annual engineering conference hosted by IEEE-Fort Worth.  The conference’s aim is to educate engineers on the latest developments in science, engineering, and technology related to all aspects of electrical engineering ranging from communications, electronics, control, power and energy. The IEEE MetroCon Student Poster Competition is jointly sponsored by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics and Oncor Electric Delivery, LLC. The purpose of the competition is to encourage professional and technical development among engineering students. The competition included an oral presentation and a poster which details the work being considered in the competition.

The title of the poster was on a recently published paper: Flexible Implementation of Power System Topology Control in Smart Electricity Grids.
