Interview with Dr. Le Xie: Could Your Home Appliances Help with Future Power Outages?

For the one-year anniversary of Uri winter storm leading to a cascading power failure that left millions of Texans in the dark and cold, Le Xie, Ph.D. (Professor at Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chancellor EDGES Fellow, Presidential Impact Fellow, Assistant Director for Energy Digitization, Texas A&M University) was interviewed by Avery Travis (kxan).  He said, “We might think about a future scenario where — with smart grid technologies — you might be able to prioritize some of the more essential needs of the energy during those times, and perhaps, you know, put off some of the less prioritized energy demands for some later time.”
