At the Innovation in AI and Energy (Innovation Forward, IF2024) event organized by Texas A&M Innovation, a panel discussion will be held on “Powering Progress: Reconciling Energy Capacity with Digital Growth; Texas is a Leader” at the Hall of Champions at Texas A&M University at 9:40 am – 10:30 am CST on November 13, 2024. This panel explores Texas’ leadership in balancing the energy demands of a growing digital landscape with grid capacity and resilience. Experts will discuss the challenges and solutions in meeting energy needs as digital infrastructure expands, highlighting Texas’s strategic advancements and innovations in grid management, sustainability, and engineering excellence. The chair of the panel is Thomas Overbye, Ph.D. (O’Donnell Foundation Chair III Professor at Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, ECE, TAMU, and Director of TEES Smart Grid Center, SGC). Other expert panelists are Miroslav M. Begovic, Ph.D. (Moore Professor ECE, TAMU; former ECE Department Head (2015-2023); Associate Director, SGC), Stephanie Paal, Ph.D. (Williams Brothers Construction Company Associate Professor, Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, TAMU), and Woody Rickerson, P.E. (Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Electric Reliability Council of Texas, ERCOT).
