Undergraduate Researcher in Power Engineering Named 2023 Astronaut Scholar

Heather Chang is one of the two undergraduate researchers at Texas A&M University named as Astronaut Scholar this year. She is an engineering honors student and a Brockman scholar planning to graduate in 2024. Since August 2020, she is involved in research on modeling power grids to maximize efficiency and studying integration of electrical vehicles (EVs) on the power grid conducted at Dr. Thomas Overbye‘s lab.

The mission of Astronaut Scholarship Foundation is support the very best and brightest scholars in science, technology, engineering and mathematics the United States while commemorating the legacy of American pioneering astronauts.

Regarding her future plans, Heather is interested in applying electrical engineering to provide sustainable solutions with minimal impact on daily life of consumers.
