Dr. Mladen Kezunovic Became NAE Member

The U.S. National Academy of Engineering has elected a new member: Mladen Kezunovic, Ph.D., Regents Professor, Eugene E. Webb Professor at Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, and former director of TEES Smart Grid Center. He was recognized with this membership for his contributions to automated analysis of power system faults, and leadership in education in protective relaying.

Recently he and his team was awarded a new project titled “Advanced Learning for Energy Risk Tracking”,  PI: M. Kezunovic, Dr. Zoran Obradovic (Temple University, Philadelphia, PA), Dr. Alexander Brown (ECON, Tamu), Dr. Paul Pavlou (BAUER University of Houston), Dr. Roger Enriquez (UTSA Policy Studies Center) funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the total amount of $1,498,793 for 4 years starting in January 2022.

He is the President of SGSMA Association and the Chair of the Board of the 2022 International Conference on Smart Grid Synchronized Measurements and Analytics (SGSMA) to be held in Split, Croatia, on May 24-26, 2022.

Most recently he gave invited keynote talks on “Big Data Analytics for Predicting, Managing and Mitigating Outages” at the 9th International Conference on Advance Power System Automation & Protection, Jeju, Korea, October 14, 2021 and at the International Workshop on Communication Networks and Power Systems (WCNPS), Brasilia, Brazil, November 18, 2021.

He will be a Distinguished Speaker at ShanghaiTech University in China on November 12, 2022.
